Be Open to Learning Every Moment — The Transcript

Tom’s University. Be open to learning every moment. Be open to learning every moment. Be open to learning every moment.

Tom’s University is about basic principles, basic life principles for healthy human beings. And this is a basic life principle that applies in every moment. Be open to learning in this moment.  What’s going on in this moment for you? What’s going on in this moment for your world, for your life? Be open to learning. If you have the consciousness that it’s already figured out, all tied up in a bow, you’re not… That’s not reality. That’s not reality. You’re going to get hit in the face or hit over the head or crash into a brick wall. No. Life is fluid. And you don’t know .  .  .  .  you really don’t know the next moment.  It’s enough to be open to learning what’s going on in this moment inside of me, inside of you, inside of the other person that you’re interacting with. Just think about that for a minute.

If you are really in the present with yourself, with your body, with your intentions, with your priorities for your life, and you’re grounded in “This is who I am.  This is who I am.  This is what’s going on with me in the moment,” and you’re in that conversation with another human being, a lover, a spouse, a child. And you have this openness to what’s going on with them in this moment. What’s going on in our relationship in this moment? What is the energy… What’s going on? Is he seeing me? Is he in his own world?  This class is about being open to learning what’s going on in this moment. That’s where the action is. The action is in this moment. It’s not later. It’s not later. You hear the edge in my voice because I’m saying that to myself. It’s like because I’m addicted. It’s somehow like…  [missing 30 secs. of recording]

Its still morning for me. I’m just beginning to start my work day and I have a big long “to do list” and it’s…  if I apply this class “be open to learning,” there’s a conflict with my “to-do list.”  My “to-do list” is this illusion that I know everything I’m going to get done today.   Oh, wow. Just even saying that helps me relax a little bit more.   I’m open to learning right now. I’m open to learning what to share with you about this topic, about this principle and I’m open to learning how to get this principle a little bit more in me. Be open to learning. Be open to learning who are you out there. Who are you out there?  What is your ground, your consciousness? I have a lot of ideas about the consciousness of our culture. Are you listening to me? What’s your consciousness? I’m actually getting right now there a lot of times I do Tom’s University classes and I’m not open to learning what your consciousness is. And maybe I come across as a “know it all”. I’m not! I know this is a basic principle. Yes. Do I know how to do it all day long? No. I’m learning. I’m learning the subtleties. I’m learning like this is reality. I don’t know the next moment. I didn’t know I was going say that. I didn’t know I was going to explore this, “Wow, be open to… “, I don’t know who you are listening to this. I can’t see you.

Be open to learning who you are. Wow! Like, “How am I going to do that? How am I going to do that in that moment?” I don’t know. But just having the open to learning it changes my attitude towards you in a very positive way. Yeah. So it’ll apply. This applies in every situation. Be open to learning every moment. I’m going to link it again. Just think about a common interaction you have with someone you live with, a family member, a spouse or a partner or a child. And take this “be open to learning” about this other person. “Be open to learning” about yourself in relation to this other person. And just in the next time you interact, to think about it a little ahead of time, and the next time you interact today with them, coach yourself to be open to learning what’s going on with them. Be open to learning. What is your… How do you interact and relate with them energetically, and be open to learning what are your patterns with this person. Yeah, that’s just an example. This applies in every situation. The classes today are focused on “Be open to learning every moment.”
